Rules and Regulations

The Burrows Drive Day at Sydney Motorsport Park and the Sandown Drive Day at Sandown in Victoria are strictly non-competitive events structured towards advanced driver training. They consist of a 3-group structure to ensure all drivers, both regular and new, receive appropriate track time and instruction.

On Track Rules and Regulations

TFC Drive Days are structured as a non-competitive driver education event. The rules for all drivers are as follows:

  1. The event will be organised and controlled entirely by Events O'Neill
  2. All participants in the event are to be aware that they accept the fact that they are to drive their vehicles in a safe manner at all times on the circuit as directed;
  3. Under no circumstances are participants to race, time laps, or participate in any other behaviour that may lead to, or cause an accident;
  4. Personal accident and ambulance insurance is the responsibility of the individual. Vehicle insurers should be consulted to determine the level of comprehensive cover whilst participating in this event;
  5. All participants (drivers and guests) are required to complete an indemnity form before participating in the event. Warning: the indemnity is an important document that affects your legal rights and obligations. Please read it carefully and do not sign it unless you are satisfied you understand it. If you decide not to sign the indemnity documents, you will not be permitted to participate in the event.
  6. All drivers are required to attend the compulsory morning briefing before driving on the track. This reinforces the rules for the day, the daily schedule, and all other necessary information. Late drivers will not be allowed onto the circuit until being briefed by the organiser or an instructor.
  7. All vehicles intended to be used at Events O'Neill Drive Days must be fully roadworthy and display current registration certificates as issued by their local authority. All drivers must preform the supplied pre-track inspection checklist before taking their car/s on the track. Events O'Neill reserves the right to disallow access to any non-complying vehicle.
  8. The organiser will have final say over the structure and running of all "on-track" activities. No debate will be entered into.
  9. All drivers who have not attended a Burrows Drive Day previously are required to enter the New Drivers Category to be assessed by an instructor.
  10. NO overtaking on the circuit unless by consent from the leading driver or on the main straight. Drivers are given a full briefing on the overtaking rules during the compulsory morning briefing and are educated during the theory and practical sessions which side of the track to remain whilst being overtaken;
  11. NO passenger rides. No driver is allowed to take any other person in their car as a passenger unless it is an instructor;
  12. NO timing of any laps. The organisers do not provide any timing equipment and also disallow any personal stopwatches or lap timers.
  13. NO competitive/aggressive/unnecessary driving is tolerated. This type of driving will result in the driver being flagged off the circuit and asked to retire from the day.
  14. A regulation helmet must be worn at all times whilst driving on the track. Non-synthetic "neck to wrist to ankles" clothing should also be worn
  15. Participants are to report to the Medical center after any incident. Participants are to report to the event organiser prior to any further action. Participants are not to return to the circuit without the clearance of all of the above.
  16. It is your responsibility to ensure your safety and that the track ahead of you is safe to drive on. Observe for problems on or near the track including dirt/dust, gravel, stopped vehicles, slowing vehicles, and other hazards
  17. Drivers are advised to place their foot firmly on the brake pedal in the event of a spin. DO NOT try to "drive out" of the spin
  18. Drivers should see the Event Organiser regarding any further issues during the event.
